Appalachian Underground Corrosion Short Course Scholarship - Akron

The Appalachian Underground Corrosion Short Course (AUCSC) is organized to provide both technical and nontechnical presentation of the practical and theoretical aspects of the causes of corrosion, instrumentation, corrosion surveys, cathodic protection, pipe coatings, and miscellaneous methods of corrosion control. On behalf of the AUCSC, AMPP will award two (2) scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each to University of Akron students in the Corrosion Engineering Program.

1. Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled full-time, involved in underground corrosion control for oil and gas pipelines, particularly in cathodic protection – CP and coatings.
  • Preferred if they are interning with and oil and gas pipeline operator and involved with the external corrosion control program for pipelines.
  • AUCSC scholarship recipient will receive a free registration to the next AUCSC short course in May 2023 (www.aucsc.com).

2. Candidate Evaluation
The following information should be included for review by the Selection Committee:

  • Completed Application
  • Academic transcript
  • Two (2) Recommendation Forms from educators or employers familiar with applicants background
  • Supplemental Essay Question(s)

3. Application Guidelines
