AMPP Georgia Chapter Academic Scholarship

The AMPP Georgia Chapter provides scholarships to promote growth and education in Corrosion and Coatings, for costs associated with AMPP related training, trade school, or other college and educational related expenses. Funds provided from profits of AMPP Georgia Chapter fundraising events.

AMPP EMERG will award the following on behalf of the AMPP Georgia Chapter:

  • The number and amount ($1,000 and greater) of scholarships awarded will vary based on number and quality of applications received.

1. Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must have a permanent residence in the state of Georgia for a minimum of 1 year from scheduled award month.
  • Applicants are encouraged to be an AMPP member (membership is free for full-time students) and requested to attend a minimum of (3) three AMPP Georgia Chapter monthly meetings per year. Non-members will be considered, however members will be weighted more favorably.
  • Funds received may be utilized for AMPP training, industry specific conferences, or tuition for full-time students pursuing STEM related disciplines.
  • AMPP members and applicants pursuing corrosion or coatings related courses, training, or conferences will be weighted more favorably than other applicants.
  • AMPP Georgia Chapter reserves the right to not award scholarship funds based on the merit of applications received.
  • AMPP Georgia Chapter reserves the right to review and modify requirements annually. Modifications require consensus from Chapter Committee and approval by AMPP Georgia Chapter Chair.

* Additional funds may be considered for lodging expenses associated with training or for tools and/or equipment to educational institutions that promote or teach relevant courses, at the AMPP Georgia Chapter’s discretion.

2. Candidate Evaluation
The following information should be included for review by the Selection Committee:

  • Completed application signed by applicant.
  • Academic transcript (if applicable)
  • Two letters of reference from educators, employers, or an AMPP Chapter member in good standing.
  • A 500 words or less essay, explaining:
  1. Your interest in entering or expanding your knowledge of the materials protection industry and how you would like to apply your knowledge through academics, training, or attending a relevant conference.
  2. How corrosion or coatings impact your area of STEM or Engineering

In addition to the information above, please be sure to review the General Scholarship Guidelines. In order to be considered, applicants must meet all Scholarship Eligibility Requirements, successfully submit all required documentation (including recommendations), and answer all required essay questions.
